Miyeojibaengdui is an online performance currently being produced by Maro, a traditional arts group from Jeju, through the Creative Performance Arts Support Project of the Korea Arts Council. Ahead of its official launch in November, a soft launch will be open from September 5 to 25 to solicit audience feedback in order to create a better performance.

Those who apply for the performance will receive a link via email during this period,

allowing them to download the program and watch the performance on a PC.

Jeju, the mythical land where eighteen thousand gods reside.

However, due to ongoing human greed and destruction,

did the gods remain on Jeju island today? This performance begins with that question. It explores the unique time and space known as Miyeojibaengdui, which appears in Jeju rituals.

Through this performance linking the unworldly Miyeojibaengdui between this life and the afterlife to a virtual world, the audience becomes the protagonist, ‘Bonju’, embarking on a journey to summon the gods once again.

The Maro Association aims to explore the new potential of performances conducted in virtual worlds through this soft launch. During this soft launch, 70% of the stages, composed of 9 parts, will be presented.
